2016 LEGION OF HONOR INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED
January 28, 2016

YORK SPRINGS, PENNSYLVANIA - The National Nostalgia Drag Racing Association has been presenting the annual Legion of Honor awards since 2004 to many drag racing pioneers as esteemed recognition for their many contributions to the sport and performance industry.

The awards will be presented for 2016 during an awards ceremony at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, York Springs on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 5 p.m. during the celebration of York US30 Heritage Days, a part of the annual York Reunion which is an integral part of the York Nostalgia Weekend.

Each recipient is presented a Legion of Honor award and their name is placed upon a perpetual award that is on display at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing located one mile north of York Springs, Pennsylvania just off Route 15 at 100 Baltimore Road. The perpetual award will be displayed in perpetuity on the walls in the drag racing section of the museum.

This year's awards recipients are Joe Tryson, Sherrillsford, North Carolina; James "Jim" Fagan, Honeybrook, Pennsylvania; Rocky Pirrone, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Jack "Atco Jack" Musilli, Sicklerville, New Jersey; Patricia "Pat" Doll, York, Pennsylvania; George "Ohio George"
Montgomery, Dayton, Ohio; Jeffrey "Jeff" Golden, Wrightsville, Pennsylvania; Joseph "Joe"
McComas, Dagsboro, Delaware; and Neil Hinkle, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Every award presented is in recognition of the significant impact that each recipient has had on drag racing's performance heritage.

There is no award that is more cherished than one that is received from the input of your peers. We salute all of the inductees for their many outstanding contributions to their performance heritage.


LINDA VAUGHN JOINS THE LEGENDS AT YORKUS30 HERITAGE DAYS

YORK SPRINGS, PENNSYLVANIA - "Miss Hurst Golden Shifter" and commonly known as the First Lady of Motorsports, Linda Vaughn will be joining other legends of drag racing on July 8-9, 2016 at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing during the presentation of York US30 Heritage Days as the first part of the popular York Nostalgia Weekend that is synonymous as the event that has more drag racing legends assembled at one event at one time In the United States over a period of fifteen consecutive years.

The event will be presented at the historic Latimore Valley Fairgrounds and Eastern Museum of Motor Racing facilities. The many legends of drag racing will include "Ohio George" Montgomery, Jere Stahl, Wally Bell, Jon Lundberg "The Voice of Drag Racing", Bob Harrop, Jim & Alison Lee, Wally Booth and World Champions Bruce Larson and Jim Walther to name a few.

The show will present many of the top drag racing vehicles from the Glory Days of Drag Racing. The "Great Expectations" top fuel dragster of Jim & Alison Lee, the USA-1 funny car of Bruce Larson, three of Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins' original famous "Grumpy's Toys" race cars featuring the '68 Camaro Grumpy's Toy IV that won the first two NHRA Pro Stock events back in the day. Also featured will be Jim Walther's "Special Edition" top fuel entry that carried him to the World Championship along with Penny Flammia, owner. A loaded line-up of Junior Stock entries is also expected to join Butch and Linda Szollosy with their outstanding '57 Chevy.

Musclecars will be featured on Saturday during the "Glory Days" Cruise-In that will highlight not only muscle cars but street rods, trucks, and special interest vehicles which includes the vintage variety. Linda Vaughn will be presenting the awards on Saturday at 3 p.m. for 1st thru 3rd place in each category and a People's Choice and Best of Show award.

A popular "Cackling Thunder" cacklefest will be held both days when legendary race cars will start-up and provide the music to the race fans ears. Schedule for the start-ups will be posted in the museum lobby.

Activities for the nostalgia weekend will continue on Sunday, July 10th with the presentation of the 13th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway. Drag racing activities begin at 8 a.m.


AND THE BEAT GOES ON
December 13, 2015

YORK SPRINGS, PA - The Annual York Reunion will be presented for the fifteenth straight year with the presentation of the York US30 Heritage Days at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs on July 8-9, 2016 as part of the York Nostalgia Weekend which will culminate with the presentation of the 13th York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, July 10th.

Opening the activities at EMMR on Friday, July 8th will be the presentation of Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins Day. A tribute to a man who contributed countless foresight to the sport of drag racing. The Grumps original Grumpys Toy IV Camaro will be on display in the museum proper by current owners Dale & Vickie from Pittsburgh along with two other original Grump cars from the Tom Bryan stables in New Jersey. World Champ Larry Lombardo and Ed Hedrick two of the Grump's later chauffer's will be in attendance. Lombardo will have a special display of Grumpy items along with Wayne Meli from New Jersey who will pay tribute with additional historical items about "the man". Mike Keough will likewise have a host of Jenkins Competition merchandise available for sale.

The show will encompass the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds with a display of drag racing vehicles from the glory days of drag racing along with a Saturday cruise-in that will feature muscle cars and street rods along with a potpourri of special interest vehicles too numerous to list.

Friday at 5 p.m. the Annual Legion of Honor awards ceremony will be presented in the museum. A class of eight deserving individuals including "Ohio George" Montgomery will be presented their awards and have their names placed upon the perpetual award on display in the museum in perpetuity.

Saturday will feature a "Jere Stahl Roast". Another individual who contributed so much technically to the sport of drag racing. Displays will abound of all kinds of drag racing memorabilia along with model displays that will appeal to the small fry. A special "Glory Days" cruise in will likewise be presented from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. All years welcome. The event benefits the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

Sunday, July 10th activities move to Beaver Springs Dragway for the presentation of the 13th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals. Drag racing activities begin at 8 a.m.


YORK NOSTALGIA WEEKEND 2016
November 13, 2015

YORK SPRINGS, PA - A York Nostalgia Weekend to be held July 8-10, 2016 at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing was announced today jointly by Lynn Paxton, Curator and Darwin Doll, Drag Racing Coordinator.

The exciting new weekend will start with York US30 Heritage Days at the museum and the adjoining historic Latimore Valley Fairgrounds for Friday and Saturday July 8-9, 2016. The event will feature a drag racing car show which will highlight Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins Day and the annual Legion of Honor awards presentations at 5 p.m. Saturday will feature a host of drag racing activities to include a Roast of Jere Stahl and a Tribute to Harold "Chub" Lorah. Saturday will also include the "Glory Days" Cruise-In from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. musclecars and street rods with awards being presented for Best Chevrolet, Best Ford, Best Mopar, Best AMC, Best Truck, Special Interest, People's Choice and Best of Show. All categories will be presented 1st thru 3rd place awards.

In essence the York Reunion continues with a new setting. Pre-entry for the drag racing car show is required. The entries will be available on the show website www.yorknostalgia.com within the next two weeks. Entries will be limited to available space. Acceptances will be required.

The show invites a host of vendors to participate with their individual displays of auto items, toys and race car models, and items that appeal to the female gender of the family. Show hours are Friday, July 8, 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 9, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Surprise special events with Legends of Drag Racing will be presented throughout both days.
