REMEMBERING YORK
June 8, 2011

YORK, PA – On the second full weekend of July every year the pilgrimage of motorheads from all over our vast country begins toward York, Pennsylvania. They remember York not as the first capital of the United States but for the famous York US 30 Dragway that presented some of the drag racing world’s best events. It is not known for the “topless” event that never happened but for the largest single day drag race to be presented in its time, the ‘65 Super Stock Nationals that is known to this very day as the “Woodstock of Drag Racing”.

A Decade of Presenting the Performance Heritage of this world famous drag racing operation that ran a regular Saturday night event from the early sixties until the final season in 1979 will be presented at the 10th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion on July 8-9th. Legendary race cars such as the ‘61, ‘62, and ‘63 Chevrolets of the late Dave Strickler along with a tribute car as a Project in Progress, a ‘67 Chevrolet Camaro by his son Mike. The famous “Old Reliable” Chevrolets attained national and world notariety running out of the Ammon R. Smith Auto Company stables in York and from the wrenching of Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins. The cars and Jenkins will be on hand to celebrate ten years of performance heritage at the York Reunion.

World famous race cars such as Butch Leal’s ‘65 Pro Stock entry, Arnie Beswick’s A/FX Comet, Bruce Larson’s “Mr. Clean”, Kenny Warren’s “Virginia Twister”, Rich Venza’s “Pinocchio”, the Pacers AA/FA, Wally Booth’s AMX and Hornet Pro Stocks, Ken Montgomery’s “Triple Nickel”, Rich Carillo’s Bonneville Roadster, Dennis Quitoni’s “Plain Vanilla”, Joe Amato’s Top Fuel Dragster, Rocky Pirrone’s Competition Coupe, Bunny Burkett’s Corvette Funny Car, will all be paying tribute to a decade of performance memories.

The annual reunion/show presents motorcycle drag racing pioneers Tommy Grazias and Ben Koch’s entries. Grazias ran a twin engine Triumph drag bike at York while Ben Koch will display his ‘61 Harley that carried him to track championships in 1961 and 1962.

A popular Make and Take model building will be presented both days by the Central Pennsylvania Model Car Club free for children 12 and under. Free model kits are provided the youth who are assisted in building their model at the show that they take home with them as a souvenir of their visit. Hours for the Make and Take are Friday, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday, 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Saturday also features a Cruisin’ Into Summer cruise-in on the West Plaza from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The show marks ten consecutive years of support to the York County SPCA and the second year of support for the Springettsbury Township K9 unit and their new dog Petro.

Hours for this special trip down memory lane are Friday, July 8th 1 p.m. until 8 p.m and Saturday, July 9th from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. One price admission for two great events.

Frantic Ford Funny Car to Appear at the 10th Annual Muscle Car Madness at the York Reunion
May 13, 2011

York, PA - This will be a historic weekend for FRANTIC FORD FUNNY CAR TEAM at the 10th Annual Muscle Car Madness at the York Reunion. The "Frantic Ford" Funny Car Team has ramped things up in 2011 and will be looking to assault the competition in the funny car ranks.

George Reidnauer will be handling the driving chores in the low slung recreation of the 1977 Mustang II bodied team car on display at York Reunion.

After an extensive period of time away from the sport, the legendary Frantic Ford name will once again make a return to active competition at venues throughout the U.S. Partners Bobby Frey & Al Liebmann will have "Team Frantic" planning to make special appearances at automotive related events throughout the course of the year.

The Frantic Ford name began life in 1970 when original owner Jim Fox made the switch from dragsters to funny cars. Veteran flopper pilots Ron Rivero, "Rapid Roy" Harris, Sarge Arciero and the late Dodger Glenn have all spent time behind the wheel of this fabled east coast terror at some point in their careers. This coming season, the team looks to make a return to active competition and once again place this legendary machine in the winner's circle.

The legendary Frantic Ford name has a rich performance history associated with the former York U.S.30 Dragway. The team was runner-up at the prestigious 1974 Super Stock Nationals, easily one of the year’s most impressive events. Additional glory came in the form of winning the 1976 Funny Car Nationals and setting Low E.T of the event. York U.S.30 Dragway was always a favorite stop on the tour for the Frantic Ford Funny Car Team consisting of partners Jim Fox and Freddy Frey. Driver Dodger Glenn was always a fan favorite and could always be counted on to lay down some long, smoky burnouts and big numbers.

Team members will be available throughout the course of the York Reunion event to chat with fans and answer questions pertaining to their upcoming schedule of events.

"Team Frantic Ford” merchandise will also be available for sale. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the past and present when this team rolls in to town. Visit the team web @ www.franticford.com

This car is dedicated to the memory of Paul Roger (Dodger) Glenn - 1945-1978
